What is D.A.E?

DAE

DAE stands for Diploma of Associate Engineers. It is abbrivation or short form for Diploma of Associate Engineers which is widely used in many countries including Pakistan and India. It is a three years technology diploma after Matriculation or Secondary School Certificate.
This Diploma is being taught in different colleges and institutes in almost every major city of Pakistan. There are different specialized fields for this diploma e.g. Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Foundary and Pattern Making, Auto and Diesel, Welding and many others.

Who are Diploma Holders?

Diploma Holder
Diploma Holder is a person who has passed a diploma course from any recognized institute. So it is a term which is widely used for a number of courses in different fields and by different institutes, colleges and universities.
Duration of study for a diploma course varies from course to course. But generally the duration can be from 1 year to 3 year. Courses less than 1 year; 1 week course, 3 months course, 6 months course and 9 month courses are taken as Certificate Course and these courses are not regarded as Diploma Course. And courses with duration more than 3 years are generally taken as degree courses.

Associate Engineer's Forum

It is a common practice in the whole world and even in Pakistan that every profession has its own platforms (Councils, Organizations, Committees….) to discuss their problem & issues and find its solutions. They also give their suggestions and recommendations to the government for the betterment of the system and the welfare of their own community. As Doctors, Engineers, Teachers, Lawyers, Nurses and Clerks have their platforms. Although Associate Engineers are in a huge number in Pakistan and are well educated but unfortunately Associate Engineers Community yet has not any single platform. That’s why they are being ignored while making any type of technical, industrial or employment policy. Even they are entitled to a very lower BPS grade in government departments.

This blog is an initiative to give a common platform to all the Associate Engineers of Pakistan which have done Diploma of Associate Engineer in any field/technology. How to Eliminate Unemployment from Pakistan?

Government of Pakistan can take a revolutionary step offering interest free loans to educated technicians to set up their own businesses. It will develop cottage industry in Pakistan which is a hub of any industrial country. These small industries will not only give respectable earning source to educated technicians but many others will also get employment through this. In this way we can give support to our feeble economy.

In Japan 90%, in Germany 60% while in Pakistan only 15% technicians started their own business after completing their study due to the lack of investment and any support by government in this regard.

In China 80 percent and in Bangladesh 20 percent industries are giving On Site Trainings, while in Pakistan only 8 percent industries offer on site training. Government should make laws and encourage industries to arrange On Plant Training, In Industry Training and Apprenticeships for fresh technical graduates. So they can get practical experience which will give base to students for getting proper jobs.

According to a report of Economic Survey of Pakistan, there are only 1522 technical institutes in Pakistan in which 1140 are public sector while remaining 382 are private sector institutes. 314188 total students are enrolled in these institutes while only 60 to 70 thousand students are passed out each year. These passing out technicians didn’t fulfill countries requirement. So number of technical institutes should be increased to get more technical and skilled manpower.

If you have any suggestion about eliminating unemployment from Pakistan, please share your thoughts in the comments.

Salary Conflict between Technicians and Engineers

In all the developed countries, pay package of Doctors, Engineers and Technicians is almost same with a very minor and ignorable difference. But in Pakistan an Engineer gets almost double to triple pay than an Associate Engineer. And it is sufficiently many times more than other technicians who have other technical and vocational education usually 02 years and 01 year diplomas of their specific fields. And in some industries a fresh technician hardly gets wages equal to a laborer.

It is not said that their should be equal salaries for engineers, technicians and skilled persons, but it is suggested that the difference should be reduced. High salary differences caused a brain drain of Pakistani Technicians to Europe, Canada, Australia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait etc resulting huge loss to Pakistani economy and industry.

In multinational companies operating in Pakistan, an Associate Engineer gets salary from Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 150,000 per month. In developed countries and even in Arab Countries, a Pakistani Associate Engineer is earning from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 400,000 per month. But in Pakistan it is hard for a fresh Associate Engineer to earn for his livings. Normal pay package for a fresh Associate Engineer is from Rs. 7,000 to 15,000. Is it not injustice?

Government of Pakistan should raise wages of technical work force.

KINPOE PDTP ENTRY TEST TIPS KINPOE PDTP ENTRY TEST TIPS

Following study tips will hopefully pass you in KINPOE and CHASCENT PDTP Entry Test.
1. You will get 3 marks for a correct answer while 1 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. So be careful while answering. However I will recommend that you must try to fill out the entire answer sheet and don’t let it blank. There are 80 questions in the test; if you are sure about the answers of 50 questions then firstly give answers to these 50 questions. Then come to remaining 30 questions. If you make 15 right and 15 wrong answers then you will get 15*3=45 marks for your right answers and 15*1=15 marks will be deducted. Hence you will get 30 marks as a surplus and getting 30 marks from just a simple technique are more than enough.

2. Try to give answers by “Elimination Method”; First of all write the answers of questions you are sure then try to give answers of others. You will find that if there are 4 answers given of a question, you can guess that 1 or 2 answers are totally irrelevant while tie for the right answer will be only in 2 answers, now choose any one which is according to you “It may be right”.

3. Majority of the questions will be taken from General Science, Basic Math and Physics. While few question will be from Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology and Chemistry. There may be a few questions from Current Issues, General Knowledge and Islamic Studies.

4. Encircle only one option from a,b,c,d.

5. Do not write on the answer sheet. Do your rough work on question book.

Note: All of the above tips are summarized by keeping in view the sample tests of KINPOE, Kinpoe's website (http://kinpoe.edu.pk) and guidelines of students who have already appeared in the test.

Demand of BPS-16 >< Associate Engineers vs Nurses

Nurses

Associate Engineers are working in Pakistan under BPS-10 and BPS-11. BPS-14 should be offered to the fresh Associate Engineers, who have 03 years Diploma in any field and BPS-16 should be offered to the Associate Engineers who successfully completed 1 year Post Diploma Training after 03 years DAE.

It is the fact that a country will not be developed without proper industrial growth and industrial growth can not be achieved without having Scientists, Engineers, Technicians and trained & skilled manpower. But today in Pakistan, thousands of Associate Engineers are uncertain about their future for the reason that there is no existence of any promotion channel or services structure in Pakistan for those.

It is the need of hour to sympathetically glance at the problems of this sector. Tecchnical staff conducts their responsibilities and look after their assignments in the condition that have great risks to their lives. The Prime Minister Yosuf Raza Gillani and President Asif Ali Zardari should look into this matter seriously and should take some curative measures.

To stop the Brain Drain from the country, Government of Pakistan should form a council or directorate to look after the problems of the Technicians. A Committee may also be formed on urgent basis. Highly skilled technicians are going abroad in huge numbers for their better future. Foreign countries, organizations and multinational companies offer a very handsome salary package to these technicians, whereas in Pakistan they are hand to mouth.

Associated Engineers become frustrated when they get notice that a person with only having Matric or F.A. with low marks are appointed in higher ranks. However the working environment of the Associate Engineers is mostly unsafe and the person who are low in education but higher in ranks are seated in air-conditioned and decorated offices.

Here we take another example; About 40~50 years ago Associate Engineers were appointed in BPS-11 and/or higher and Nurses were appointed in the pay scale of BPS-5 together. Later in 1975 Nurses were granted BPS-7, in 1982 they were promoted to BPS-9, in 1983 they were allowed to BPS-14 and now they work on BPS-16 pay scales. Not only this but a proper channel of further promotions has been made for them thus they can be promoted to BPS-20 and they can too have their directorate, nursing board and nursing council. There are a lot of Nurses in Army Medical Core who are Major by rank.  But Associate Engineers are demoted in this period from BPS-11 and BPS-10 and there is no Council, directorate or any other organization to look after the problems of Associate Engineers. We are not denying the role of the Nurses in Hospital, nor we are asking for a demotion of ranks for Nurses. We are just demanding the equal Pay Scales and Proper channel for promotion. Because they education duration of the both is same; Nurses study 3 years after matriculation and some of these study midwifery subjects for an extra year, same wise Associate Engineers study 3 years about a technology field and some of these also get training for an extra year as directed by their employing education. Both get practical training along with their theoretical formal education.
Government should take steps to stop this prejudice against Associate Engineers. Otherwise most of these Associate Engineers will go abroad and it will give a serious impact to industry and economy of Pakistan.

How to find a Reasonable Job

Hundreds of thousands Associate Engineers are facing many problems; It is hard to find a reasonable job in Pakistan and if one can find the wages are very very low as compared to the international labour market and even wages are low as compared to many other inferior professions in Pakistan, Their scales or grades in the government departments are very miserable, their are very few institutes which offer undergraduate level education to Diploma Holders, No proper setup to improve their education, and even government have not any carrier guidance and carrier planning department for Associate Engineers. Root cause for all these problems is that Diploma Holders having Diploma of Associate Engineering in different fields have not any platform, organization or council.
So who is responsible for this ???

    Government of Pakistan?
    Education Ministry?
    TEVTA?
    Pakistan Engineering Council?
or Higher Authorities of Engineering Universities?
Who will give Justice to Associate Engineers??????
Government of Pakistan should form an independent Councel for Technology like Pakistan Engineering Council, as all other professions in Pakistan have their own councils or associations but unfortunately Technical Diploma Holders have not any!!!!!!!!
